IDEAS FOR IMPATIENT MUMS

Although your baby is the one in charge of releasing labour-inducing hormones into your bloodstream, if you have gone past your due date and you're feeling fed up with the wait why not try some of these tricks - they cannot harm your baby, and although there is no scientific evidence that they make any difference, at the very least they will help to pass the time!:

- Get frisky with your partner - intercourse is reputed to help move things along

- stay active and busy, although we don't recommend running up and down stairs!

- enjoy some spicy food

If all else fails, go and speak to your midwife. She may be able to give you a sweep to stimulate your labour, and failing that, she will refer you to the maternity ward where you can be booked in for an induction. Knowing that you’re going to have to be induced might just be the trigger you need to get things started.
